FOREST & GRAVEL RALLY EVENTS

As seen on television, one of the ultimate forms of motor sport demanding everything from both driver and machine. Competing against the clock, forest special stage rallying can be undertaken at a number of levels, from the serious factory-backed 'works' teams to small-budget privateers chasing class honours across slippery and demanding forest tracks.

Granite City Rally 26 April, 2008

This year, the 39th Granite City Rally, has a new sponsor, Station Garage Mitsubishi. The owner, Bob Shepherd, has been an enthusiastic supporter of the event for many years and we are pleased and proud that he has decided to become the name sponsor for 2008 after the withdrawal of MultiWage. His support will enable us to maintain the high standards that the Granite City Rally always strives for.

The route this year will be a compact route in the Kincardineshire forests. With 45 stage miles, all forest stages are single usage, and with only 100 road miles.

This year we had hoped to run the much touted road closed stage around the lighthouse, and things are progressing well towards obtaining the necessary Act of Parliament, but unfortunately we will not get the Act approved in time. Plans are in hand to run this stage in 2009 which will be the 40th running of the Granite and the 100th anniversary of ADMC Ltd..

This year 2 wheel drive Cars in Classes 1 to 5, will run at the front of the rally. Once again, this will give competitors in the small-engined cars the benefit of smoother roads.

Rally HQ as usual is the Thistle Hotel, Altens, where special weekend rates are on offer for the rally, and we are grateful for their assistance and hospitality which always makes the Granite weekend one to remember.
