NAVIGATION RALLYING

Navigation Rallies are timed events held on open public roads, (so cars need to be taxed & MOT'd), that require the solution of map related clues to get the car from one control to another by navigating a set route.

This is where many a top rally driver or co-driver started out, with map reading and timing skills essential to progress. Events can be tackled in any kind of road going car with the absolute minimum of preparation and usually take place in the evening or during the night. At the start of each season, training sessions are held for newcomers to learn, or for old timers to remember, the basic skills required to compete.

Aberdeen & District Motor Club, runs the Williamson 100 Rally, which forms part of the highly competitive North East of Scotland motor club group championship, and a number of other smaller navigational Rallies including regular 12-Car Rallies of just under 50 miles.
